A new cavalry squadron has joined the army of the Duchy of Courland. Obtained from that doyen of the Lace Wars, Ioannis Mavromichalis, this squadron of Foundry figures was painted per Ioannis' directions (as the honorary inhaber) in red coats with black facings.
They join the Constantine Horse (Spenser Smith figures mainly from Peter Constantine) as the main cavalry arm of the duchy. They will also make the big march from Mississippi to Texas in November for the "Big Battalions" game at MilleniumCon in Round Rock, just north of Austin.
I had one extra dragoon figure so I painted and mounted him as an aide-de-camp to Duke Pavlov, the ruler of the duchy and commander of the army.
These Foundry figures were very easy to paint and I wish I could afford more of them, but ....
Such handsome lads deserve deserve that great flag!
ReplyDeleteExcellent painting! The colors are great, as is the flag!
ReplyDeleteThe MacGillicuddy woman is good, too (Is she a redhead? From what I can see she looks like a blonde).
Isn't that unit nicknamed the "Madrid Maulers"?
ReplyDeleteAndy,
ReplyDeleteThey could very well end up with that nick-name depending on how well they do in their first actions. I'm sure their honorary inhaber, the noteworthy Ioannis, would not object.

Nicely painted dragoons. Those foundry figures do look nice - as you say a bit expensivo compared to other ranges

ah, jealousy can be a compliment!
ReplyDeleteWish I could paint to a standard even half as good...
